Just returned from road trip from here in North Idaho to Salt Lake City and back. About 100 miles out of SLC, my LUV developed what I can best describe as a resonant vibration just over 50 MPH. It seemed as though all the sheet metal was vibrating. It didn't show up in the steering wheel. When I arrived, I had the drive shaft u-joints greased. They took a squirt apiece. I had all 4 wheels balanced. They needed it. When I took the LUV for a test drive on the freeway, it seemed fixed. Ya, right! About 100 miles out of SLC, the resonant vibration started again. Slight improvement. Doesn't start until 60 MPH now. In both cases the vibration seems to fade out about 75 MPH. Hard to tell for sure, after all, it's a LUV. I would think a tranny or rear end problem would manifest itself at all speeds. A balance problem is what Les Schwab thought it was. Gimme some possible problems to check out.

Maybe I'm just prejudice against Les Schwab cause I work at the Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express, which you could've easily stopped by to get your work done while you were in town. . . But they kinda suck, we get alot of tire business from them cause of vibrations and what-not.

Even though you had your tires balanced, check all 4 for bubbles or distortions in the sidewall or tread. Also, see if the tread is starting to seperate on one of the tires.
