Howdy folks,

At some point in my truck's past, the ash tray/cigarrette lighter was disconnected and taken out. I have it in the truck and would like to hook it back up. I have looked but can't see anywhere on the ash tray/lighter to attach a hot wire. How do I need to hook it up? Where does the hot wire go?

Thanks

The only wire to hook up is on the top of the metal bracket the ashtry slides into. On the back of the lighter socket there will be a wires for the light and socket to go to the top plate.

No wonder I couldn't figure out where to attach a wire to the lighter or tray. I hadn't figured out that a wire needed to be hooked up on top of the metal bracket. I won't have time to look at it in the next couple of days, but I'll try to get at it sometime this weekend hopefully. Thanks for the info.... :D

Just when I get ready to fix a few small things, something screws up and I don't get around to it! Now my freakin' truck won't crank. I've put the cig lighter on the back burner for now b/c of my cranking problems.

The truck turns over fine, it just won't hit. I know it's a spark/fire problem and not a fuel problem. I changed the points/condenser and still nothing. The distributor/cap looks fine. I got the coil tested at Autozone and the guy testing it didn't get a primary reading, so I have a new coil, but no chance to put it on yet. I'm not real sure he knew what he was doing, though. But then again, I know nothing about ohmmeters/voltmeters. It just seemed he didn't have much experience when it comes to meters either. Hopefully this will fix my problem....Will hopefully get around to changing it this weekend. If it's not the coil, I don't know what else it could be except for a wiring problem......It was running fine, then nothing.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to get to the cig lighter this weekend if the coil solves my problem.

Thanks man.. :D ..You hit the nail on the head. My problem was the resistor that mounts on top of the coil. Now my truck is alive again :!: I didn't have time to look at the cig lighter. I'll try to get to it later. Thanks again,
