I just bought this thing about 2-3 mos. ago & sometimes when I drive the butterfly valve in the carb will open wide & the engine will die if you hit the gas & sometimes it will only run w/th valve wide open. what is up w/this, & what do I do to fix it w/o having to buy a new carb/webber or a rebuild kit?

First check all your vacuum hoses to make sure you haven't a vacuum leak. Replace any questionable ones. Don't forget the hose to the brake booster. Then next rebuild the carb if necessary.

Also.. check the needle and seat... if trash gets stuck in it, it will mess up your fuel flow.

might also check out the points in the distributor and the condensor.
