Yes, It's a Bearing (sealed bearing). Inner and outer race with ball bearings. Getting the old one out might be a pain if it falls apart. It's a very much overlooked part when it comes to clutch and trans problems.

Blue Meanie I can relate to "getting the old one out might be a pain". It took me every bit of an hour to get that bearing out without tearing up anything else. Good luck james4x4luv.

Yes, if everything goes smoothly, changing the bearing out isn't a big deal. The problem is if the bearing is completely trashed and it falls apart leaving just the outer race in the crankshaft. There's not much to grip to because of the recess in the crank. I had to build a tool using 2 plates of metal and a strong 1/4" bolt with 2 nuts. It took a while to get the race out far enough to work on it. Eventually i had enough room to strike the race with a hammer and chisle. Once i broke the race, the race came out with a pair of vice-grips.
I've heard that a good way to pull a bearing like this is to fill the recess behind the bearing with grease and drive a shaft that will just fit in to the bearing. Using a hammer to the shaft will force the grease to shove the bearing out. I've never tried it but it sounds like a plan.
