hey ppl
im mickey, and i have a luv
and i want to fix it up so my grandchildren can drive it one day
new to workin on trucks, interested in putting in a new engine and transmission first off, work on the rest later. any advice is more than welcome. it's a forest green 78 luv. thanx.

well if you realy want to have your grandkids to beable to drive it you might want to put a geo metro motor in it... ....sorry.... gas is $2.35 a gal here

i would keep the stock motor and rebuild iit....20-.40 over.....find a five speed from an izuzu pup(takes some work) and do the elect ignition conversion.

after that there's a performance weber carb(dgev 32/36)that works well,and a header with a 2"exaust. there's a few other things you can do like a v-6/v-8 swap but if you want to afford gas in 10 years.......

i have my motor bored .040 over, header carb and electronic ignition and its a great truck. Just rebuild the motor and youll be good to go. I wouldnt worry about the tranny too much, mine has 230,000miles on it and its still going strong. As far as upgrades go, the carb header and electronic ignition are all weekend jobs once you have all the parts and are perty stright forward. If you have any questions reguarding the ignition i did a tech writeup for the info section when i did mine. Good luck and welcome aboard!
