open up the air cleaner and pump the gas. It doesnt have to be running.
See if gas is being squirted in when moving the linkage(pump the gas). Then acclecator pump is ok. Or ck the arm that pushes it. My weber DGV it was stuck(pushed in). I WD40 it and worked ok.
May ck dist if still running points for side shaft wiggle. But dont thats it.
Also ck the idle jet is dirty(on side of carb) should be a brass screw that holds it. Could be plugged and you will have to feather the gas pedal(running off accelerator pump) to keep it running).

Cut open your fuel filter to see if dirty. Mine was packed full of rust.

When your travling at say highway speeds its OK. Only at low rpm you have the feather the pedal that means run running off the accelerator pump. Its the idle circut that being plugged. Try blowing air, carb cleaner in there and open up the idle jet. Or if you have the idle cuttoff switch make sure the wire is getting 12volt to open the switch go gas goes to it or its plugged if the switch is working OK.

I'd say take the whole carb off and do a rebuild. Its a great way to eliminate a ton of problems associated with a plugged jet somewhere, sticking floats, or any of that other carb stuff. Not to mention it never hurts to have a fresh clean carb...

usually... depending on the quality of the facility you are using they will disassemble, solvent tank, replace all jets, gaskets, o-rings, accel pump, anti dieseling and coasting solenoids, and electric choke if needed
