i haven't been on here in a while i've been swamped with work, but i thought it was about time to update yall on the progress of my luv. my 81 4x4 is doing great i've been driving it alot. i've been doing alot of work on my 80 4x4. i finished the 1.9 swap and it runs great. i also installed a inside roll cage in it that came out of a toyota pickup. and i patched up the holes in the floor. i had to install bucket seats because of the roll cage. i've been wanting to do an axle swap and i ran across an old rusted out army jeep that i bought for $200. the axles are about 4in. narrow. so i'll have to run spacers. it has a dana 25 (10 spline) up front and either a dana 41 or 44 (10 spline) in the rear. and they have 5.38 gears. which will be great offroad (this truck will never be driven onroad). i have a set of 32" tires i'll run for a while then go bigger. hopefully i'll start on the swap pretty soon. i'm looking for a set of leaf springs for the front right now. i have some that might work but i'd have to put the shackles on the short side of the spring instead of the long side and i'm not sure if that will work right. if anyone knows please tell me. i'm also gonna do spring over axle when i swap them in so i can get some extra lift. well thats all the news for now i know its kinda long, just making up for lost time. oh and does anybody know how strong these axles are? i plan on keeping the 1.9 so they won't be getting alot of horsepower.

does anybody know if putting the leaf spring shackle on the short side of the leaf spring instead of the long side would cause any problems. i need to know cause if so then i have to find shorter springs.

The rock crawler guys move things around quite a bit with no problems. Should work fine. do a search here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/
The guys on this forum are a bunch of A-holes that love to flame new guys, but with a search you can find ANY info you need for an off road suspension. Do check it out.
