I have a 76 luv that I removed the wire harness to clean things up a bit. The charging circuit worked fine when I started, now it is not. I have been going off the factory diagram on this site. the alternator is not charging but the charge lite turns off when the truck is running. Here is what I did:

terminal #1 is a white and red wire on the regulator that is going to white and red on the gage panel for the charge lite.
terninal # 2 is a white wire that is going to the ignition positive, and the yellow and brown on the gage panal for the charge lite.

The wiring diagram shows the white and red splitting off to the ac and fuel pump relays. I am not using the relays. could this be a problem? Does the regulator need to see a load throught the white and red wire?

My LUV is running a Toyota 22r. I am not using a Kit I just modified the bracket a little. The wiring is a piece of cake.

hey could you explain the wiring a bit? Did you use a single wire alternator? What did you have to do with the leftover wires on the truck that went to the stock alternator? Thanks.

Here is a link to the site I got the wiring diagram from: http://www.autorewire.com/tech/charging ... nandd.html
I used a junkyard aternator for a mid 80's chevy capriece.
I Wired the #2 terminal on the GM Alernator to the Batt Post on the alternator. Hook the wire that goes between the Generator lite and the stock regulater to the #1 terminal on the alternator. All the other wires for the stock charging system are not used. I removed these wires from the harness to clean things up. But, it should not hurt anything to just leave them where they are.
