the time has come for my to finally re-spray my LUV, and i have found a metal strip that sits on the outside of the bottom of the window and goes the whole way along, is it stuck there or does this come off? if it does come off, how so?

Use a large flat screw driver to pry it off (upward). It is held on with metal clips.
