I just got a weber dgv for my 80 4x4 and I need to know what adapters I need to install it . I went to webers web site and looked at the kit. Do I need to buy the $30 linkage kit? Is it worth it or can I fab something that will work good?? What could they put in the kit to make it $30?? Also where is the best place to get the adapter plate? Do I have to but it from weber for $47? Thanks for the help.

If you take the nut off that throttle lever on your Hitachi, the one the throttle cable end connects up to, then you can put it on the Weber. This way you don't have to cut the swagged end off the cable to connect to the throttle lever on the Weber. You just throw it away. All you then need to do is fabricate a new mount for the cable housing. The one that comes with the Weber kit is too low and the wrong angle to allow the cable housing to come across the valve cover and mount successively. I made one out out a joist hanger I picked up at Home Depot. There's also an adapter that bolts to the intake manifold and aligns with the mount pattern on the Weber The foot print of the two carbs aren't the same. I even used my oem breather after buying an adapter for the top end.

Then make an appropriate Y connection out of brass fittings to connect the 2 fuel lines up with the third line connecting to the carb.
