what does the air pump do give you more hp or what because i don't have one on my 1980 luv 4x4. i was wondering if i needed one or something. thanks :twisted:

It pumps air into the exhaust to help burn up any hydrocarbon emissions that make it out of the engine. It is part of the emissions system and not technically needed to run the truck or even get maximum performance from it. In fact, I bet it robs a wee bit of power doing its job. On the other hand, if you are required to smog test your vehicle in your state/area, you may need to have it in order to past the testing and re-register the truck.
