Surface rust isnt bad. Just get some sandpaper (220/240 grit) sand down till you get rid of the rust and then primer and paint the area.
Dents are a differnent. Depending on how big the dent is and the area the dent is. A Dent in the finder or door might be not hard since you could poud out the dent from the other side. Harder areas to get to will require a tool from a body shop. I dont know what its called but basicly it welds a ribbet and then pulls the dent out. The ribbet is then cut and sanded down.
Hope that helps. :D

if the dent is bad, or the panel is rusted, you could always go to the junk yard and take the panel of another truck if you find one. (this will work fine if your going to paint the truck)

$800 is what it is for. it has rebuilt stock engine, only like 300 miles on rebuild it runs and is bored 20 over and has lots of new parts including tires

Sounds like a good deal. Maybe you can offer you mom a deal. Cash + some gas money. Tell her you can easily turn around and sell the truck of the same amount if not more.
