does anybody know if a 5 speed out of an 83 to 89 camaro will fit into a chevy luv behind a small block as this is a wire linkage and i really dont want to switch over to a hydraulic clutch any help would be greatly appreciated and i f*in love your guy's site

hmmm...I thought the LUV's w/ manuals came with a hydraulic clutch. Is the linkage factory? As for the trans, you can make anything fit.

All 3 of the ones i had.. (2) 1980 - 4x4, 4 Spd, and a 1979 4x4, 4 Spd both had Cable clutches.. Straight cable form the pedal to the arm in the transmission.. I dont know about the others.. or the 2wd...

The 76 2wd I owned had a manual clutch. It's amazing how far you can adjust those things when you're too lazy to replace a pressure plate. *crunch* is the key word. :roll:

ive read in other posts that i had to use a monza bellhousing, shifter fork and throwout bearing is this true with a 5 speed out of a camaro or can i just use all of the stock bellhousing and equipment this help will be greatly appreciated since as far as i know im about to have to go hard to find parts shopping but i really hope not thanks for the help guys :x

The earlier trucks had hydraulic clutches. I believe they went to the cable in 76.

The clutches went to cable in 78. 72 to 77 were hydraulic.

the camaro 5 speed works great use a v8 monza bell houzing and use the cable clutch super simple i have that set up in my v6 truck have fun mike 8cyl

i dont know about you guys but when i get my 327 in a luv it will have a 'vet 6speed behind it :twisted: I have a buddy whith one that i might be getting soon. Talk about speed deamon! 8O

my 80 was a dry clutch....i think this has been discussed b4...and i believe it was decided that they went to cable in 79
