I would like some suggestions on the stereo system on a 1980 luv. Tell me what you have done to make it sound good. I know that the cab is like an echo chamber is there anything that I can do to fix it. What kind of speaker configuration have you used? I have a 4x7 in the dash and two 6.5" boxes behind the seat. Can you put speakers in the door panels?? Let me know what has worked for you. Thanks for the help!!!

the kick panels are a good place to put speakers. I have some 5.5" kickers with tweeters above them in a custom panel. you can take the cover panels off and let the magnet of the speaker tuck in there if need be.

Location: Brockton, MA for now... then its off to NH.
theres space for a 6x9" on both sides by the seatbelts. and ive got 5-1/4" speakers in my door panels, and tweeters in my dash. is there a place to get bed lids? i dont want to put my subs in my bed until i know nobody will see them and grab them.

Get the cheapo at the Wally World that does MP3's and plug your stuff into a Pioneer Booster with 5X8's mounted in the rear and the bass mounted under the dash 8-)

I have been looking for a booster, I thought they weren't made anymore. I have two 6X9's and a 6 1/2" bass cannon behind the seat and 2 tweeters under the dash running just through the radio, sounds decent like that but a booster would be nice.

That also would be a good idea if you are looking for a basic system.

All I can say...If you buying a deck for your truck DO NOT buy a Sony. The biggest pile of crap ever made.

i like infinity subs i am planning on getting the infinity perfect 12" sub
then i am goin with an mtx amps they rate their rms lower than they really are like lets say ones rated at 350 its probably capable of 500 rms

their a good amp my friend has (4) 8"nakamichi in his cavalier awesome i learned quite a bit from him.

i used computer speakers once for fun not bad  for the cab i saw this thin rubber sheet with adhesive back at a store itd probably deaden most of road noises

i posted a while back that itd be cool to have speakers in a box in the bed and port it through the cab save some room that way except cutting holes in the cab kinda sucks

I got one for like 400 bucks that played mp3's and it only plays cd's like half the time...once i get a song to start playin it wont skip AT ALL but thats once i get the damn thing to play...so i second that, dont buy sony...

i've posted this picture a thousand times since everybody always discuses this subject
Image

i had a custom box made to contour to the truck so i wouldn't lose leg room. not pictured is i also had custom made boxes made for pioneer 6x9's that pointed upward. a kenwood eceleron up front (not the cheap one, the better one that cost me close to 900 bucks). the back was also dynomated. i had kickers in there. thats not the sub i used in the picture 8)

it sounded great, also hit pretty hard. i was going to do some in the doors but changed my mind and i'm having custom kick panels made 8)

I prefer Alpine and Fosgate, but the truck I just got has Sony disc, Sony 6x9's in the cab next to the belts, 6's in the doors, a Phoenix Gold amp behind the pilot's seat, and a 10" sony titanium sub behind my baby's car seat.

Just for the record it sounds really good, but definitely not what I would've put in.

Pioneer are the best I have seen so far...but I found one better.....Premier. Premier decks are actually built by Pioneer, but tend to be "Upper scale" models. I bought one, never had an ounce of greif with it.
