I'm replacing the front brake hoses on my 80 luv. I am hoping someone else has done this before so it will they will be familar and give me some help.
The connection where the hoses bolt to Calipers have a pin besides the hole for the bolt. I tried starting the bolt and then trying to put the pin after. Doesnt work. The pin is about 1/8 off the hole. I compared the new hoses to the orignal and they are the same. Previous work I put rebuilt calipers on, but dont remember the pin. The pin isnt used for the fulid just to help align the fitting. All I can come up with is to face the pin outward and not bother using it. Any Suggestions?

i had that same problem, i just ligned it up as close to the hole as i could, and started tightening the bolt and it pushed the pin out. when the bolt was tight, i took a hammer and drove the pin into the hole.

Just to get the process in the right order. You first had the pin facing inward. It pushed the pin out. THen you tapped in back in with a hammer.
As long as I am not too heavy handed it sounds like the pin can be tapped into place.

I ended up making the hole for the pin a little bit bigger. Its 1/4 inch so
I went to 9/32 and then taped the pin in. Another note: The new hoses did not have a clip on the middle section. So I bought 9/16 E-rings and put them on where the old ones were. This would keep the hose sliding away from the bracket.
