I have the electric fuel pump and as soon as I turn on the key it starts humming and clicking rhythmically loud enough that I can hear it in the house. Is this normal or would a new pump be in order? Thanks.

My electric is pretty noisy, but I definitely can't hear it in the house. If you just got it take it back and get an exchange, to see if it was the pump. If not I'd say get a new one, I shouldn't be that loud.

It's been that noisy since I got the truck, but yeah, it is pretty loud. I guess I'll get a new one, Thanks. :)

My friend put a new fuel pump on his '68 Impala a year ago. It whirrs and clicks and makes every god dammed sound in the world. But it still put out 8 psi of pressure and hasn't failed...yet. So what im getting at is, I would keep it and go till she blows, then replace with a new one. Why fix whats not broke. Unless your going on a trip and need to be reliable, then i would fix it.

That's why I went with a $30 universal. The dude at Napa told me how much the stock replacement was 8O .

I think I would go your way. The wiring is there already, why bother with a replacement pump?

Buy some flex hose if you get the universal. After installing a universal in my 80 LUV, the input and output are reversed and need longer lengths of hose to connect.

This is not the high pressure stuff is it? I know in the fuel injection stuff is that high pressure crapola.
