6 weeks ago my truck broke for the first time, it took me 2 weeks but I figured out the igniter (on top of the coil) was bad. Another week passes and I find out the igniter costs $400, about $399 more than I had unfortunately. I got pissed, I thought about rewiring the ignition system, but wasn't sure of the cost, so I took it to a (professional) mechanic last monday. It took him a week to diagnose that yes indeed the igniter was "probably" bad and it cost me $30 just for a "probably", oh yeah, and he cannot fix it. So I'm back to thinking about rewiring the whole igniion system, does anybody have any ideas about teh cost or how I would go about doing it, where I can get the stuff I need, or even a handbook I could find to tell me how to do it? Any help would be appreciated greatly.

information wise...you can get a manuel new off chilton.com
or a used one of ebay. They have wireing diagrams in the back.
If the whold ignition wirign was bad, I would go to a profesional.
Though if there was a way to buy a re-wire kit, I'd probaly do it myself.

a couple of days ago a auction ended on ebay for a distributer off a mid 80s pup with a 1.9. this distributer has the igniter built in. you could swap in this distributer. the auction ended at $.99 and no one bid on it, so you could get it cheap. i can tell you how to wire it if needed. i'm using this distributer for the 1.9 swap in my 80 luv 4x4.
