Hi all,

It's been a while....got some assistance here and replaced the head gasket on my 81 4x4 Luv. It has been running like a champ.

I either forgot to re-attach the sensor for the dashboard temp gauge or I broke it. I need to fix it/hook it up so I monitor the temp closer. Problem is I cannot find it.....pls help. 81 1.8 4x4 w/ factory air. Where is the sensor!!

To make a long story short....I have removed the stock fan and installed an electric....with just a switch on the dash. No big deal except...I have a 16 year old who is itching to start driving. I want to install a sensor to turn on the electric fan. I need to see how hot the engine is to set the sensor for the fan.

Whew....thanks for your help!
Sid

the temp sensor is on the underside of the intake manifold near the front of the manifold. you could wire the fan to come on when you turn the key on.

ok i have the same problem....some idiot thot it would be cool to have an aftermarket temp gauge...for wut reason i dont know so he hooked it up but only halfway. Well one day when the wire fell off my starter i hit the wire connected to the aftermarket temp gauge against a positive wire and fried it in half....so now my problem is i want to hook up the stock one but i dont know how. I figured i'd wait to put it back together until i got my offy intake but still i dont know how it works. Is there one wire that hooks to the sensor in the manifold 2 3?? What color is this wire? What do i need to look for to find the one thats stock and somewhere in the circuit? Maybe i'll just get a aftermarket one...might be easier neways...
