 Post subject: 4wd shift pattern???
PostPosted: Sat Mar 13, 2004 8:48 pm
I recently bought a 80 LUV 4wd. Been doing the once over and got to the 4wd. I cannot figure out the shift pattern. I read pics good! :D
I will be using my Luv as hunting vehicle. For the most part, it's real good shape. Newer motor has about 8K on it. Electronics in good shape. Y'all got any suggestions how to make it a better ATV. I'm new to the LUV game. So, any suggestions will appreciated!

I take it the pattern isn't on the top of the shifter knob like my 80 4WD? It's basically an upside down C or U with square corners.

down and to the right is 2wd, then up and to the left is 4wd and down and to the left is 4lo. As far as making it a better go anywhere truck, im running 28x8.50R14 Interco Super Swamper TSLs whith a 1.5" torsion bar lift and 2.5" rear lift schacles. I also had to trim the back of the front fenders a little. But its a good go anywere truck! 8)

That is right, except there is technically no neutral. You can sit it between 4HI and 4LO and its in neutral, but with no detent to hold it there I wouldn't be leaving the truck that way with the transmission in gear.
