Hi guys, got a question for you, and can't think of a better place to ask it. My 77 LUV S/S just cracked/broke the EGR pipe right at the exhaust connection. Understand that I got it allready somewhat de smogged; no air pump, air injectors, etc. So my question is : can I just simply plug the connection right at the exhaust manifold and be done with the damn thing or would there be some follow on grief? Thanks for any help. (I know its a great excuse to step up for a header etc, but I'm not ready to go that route just yet!)

as long as its not a CA emmisions truck its not even a EGR pipe. It just runs to where an EGR should be but it just heats the intake. My 80 had this same thing happen and i just plugged it off. No problems.

If you want it to look clean throw the pipe away and go to a local hard ware store some where cheap for pipe plugs. Or you can cut the little tubes off the egr pipe going to the exhaust with the nut on it. then crimp the ends on them and then weld them shut if you have access to a welder

mine broke off right where yours did. i went down to the local plumbing shop and bought a coupler for copper tubing the size of the egr pipe, with pipe thread on the other end. so i just put the pipe in the coupler and tightened it down and screwed the other end into the exhaust manifold. the threads in the manifold are standard pipe thread so you can get a pipe plug. when i put my header on i just cut the pipe off at the egr vavle and welded it shut.
