If anyone here has a hint that would lower my frustration level, I would appreciate it. I've got the bracket that the pedals swing from completely loose now. Switches, bolts, cables, everything. It's loose as a goose now. What's the way to pull that thing out of that maze up there. It won't rotate. Does one end come out first? I've even got the steering column hanging loose. I've got power brakes and the rod going thru the firewall into the vacuum booster is in the way somewhat. Will that unscrew?

LOL!!! Sorry man...i find it funny to see someone with the same frustration i had. That thing is just a bitch to remove or replace no matter wut...U have to just fuck with it till it comes out...i found it made it a bit easier to take off the dash/speedo bezel to move wires and shit out of the way. I also had the steering column completely out! Good luck (-;

well, i just broke my old one MORE to get it out.

to get the new one in, i cut out the top of it by the firewall so it would fit over the part that the brake pedal pushes.

i just finished mine last night... what a pain. you should add lots of metal to the new one so this doesnt happen again, lol. i did.

Finally, it's out!

I disconnected the steering column at the bottom where it connects to the steering gear box. Then I pulled it back inside the cab using the steering wheel, lowering it at the same time. This allowed me to slide the bracket forward toward the firewall and then drop the aft end off the lip of the dash. And out it came. I've seen worse jobs. Aircraft manufacturers can really pack the equiipment in and it's always the bottom piece that you need to get at. Fighter aircraft are really bad about this. They manage to pack 10 lbs of shit in a 5lb bag.

I pulled the speedo and gauges, unbolted all the pedals from the bracket, the bracket from the firewall and dash, and just pulled it up and out the hole the speedo for left me. I'm leaving out a lot of cursing and fumbling around the wiring bundle in there, but it didn't take me that long. I pulled mine out in a parking lot up near Mt Bachelor with nothing more than a ratchet set. Took me maybe half an hour, and another half hour to put it back after it had been welded back into shape.
