can someone tell me how to reconnect the clutch cable to the transmission on my 79 4x4? it has no slave cylinder , just a loop thing. to unhook it i basically forced it off but i,m sure there is some way to loosen it so it slips on the hook easily

you can either loosen up the adjustment on the firewall or do the easier thing and use a rachet tie down strap. just hook it on the frame somewhere and the other end on the clutch fork, after the groove in it, near the transmission, (so you can still get the cable on). then rachet the strap so it depresses the clutch, then just slip your cable on.

Seems to me like I just hooked the bottom end on first and hooked the pedal end on second. It was pretty easy to hook the pedal with the other end already attached.
