ive got an 81 4x4 with the little stock 4 banger in it, I also have an old 77 buick park ave, with a V8, could I switch that with my luv engine, and would it work a lot better, plus would it fit in their, are their any other success stories out their?

another thing, i want to get a roll bar, and a utility box for the back of my truck, has anybody done that before, ive never seen it but dont know if its possible either

well anything can be done if you have the time money and knowledge. the v8 is probably a small block v8, so it shouldn't be too hard to swap. but it is a major job. you'd have to switch out the transmission too. since you have 4wd, you'd have to find a transfer case. i doubt the front axle (8 bolt) would hold up to v8 power since isuzu didn't even think it was strong enough for a v6 ( they switched to a 10 bolt for the v6) the rear axle (10 bolt). would hold up if you were easy on it. (isuzu switched to a 12 bolt for the v6) i would say it definately wouldn't hold up to offroading, especially if you use low range. so you might as well plan to swap in new axles. like toyota for the front and rear. you will also need a bigger radiator, new exhaust, have to get the driveshafts recut. i haven't ever done a v8 swap but i know the basics. some of the other guys on here can correct me if i'm wrong. i personally would not do it if i intended to keep 4wd. i'd consider the 2.3 4cyl isuzu. you can use your same transmission and axles, might have to change the motor mounts. i am about to swap in a 1.9 into my 80 4x4 luv. everything on it is totally interchangeable with the luv. you wouldn't have to change anything.
