My 77 does the same thing.
I am pretty sure that it is the seal around the windshield on mine.
It could also be the door jams as well, but I think most of it is the windshield.
I will get in the truck somedays and it seems dry, until have to brake hard and water comes rushing down the back of the dash onto my feet. lol
That's why it get's the covered parking spot.

Almost all the LUVs I've had or seen seem to leak around the windshield wiper shafts because of wear on the seals.
I posted a tip on this earlier: Leaking wiper shafts

That should cover how to fix it and give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Usually you can see cracked remains of the outer seal boots around the shafts so its not hard to spot if that it your problem. Also look under the dash for a water/dirt/rust track coming down the firewall from the shafts on the inside.

It took me months to track the worst leak in any of my LUVs to a wiper shaft the first time. It just didn't occur to me that the two inches of standing water on the passenger floorboard could have come from something so small. I actually drilled drain holes in the floor before I finally found the leak and fixed it.

The door seals can leak a fair bit, but it is really tough for water to get inside unless it comes in while driving. From my experience the same seems to be true of leaking windshield seals. My 79 had a leak near the top of the window but would only leak after 30 minutes of highway speed driving in the rain. I cured that one with some thin silicone sealer made for windshields. Found it at Shucks I think, its high wicking so it can flow into the little cracks and crevices around the window. It goes on more like a liquid and flows into where the problem is unlike that black RTV goop.

take a water hose and try to find it, just go from one spot to another and look and see if its leaking in. the 76 jaguar that i used to have leaked through the vents in front of the windshield. i would check there for a leak. could be a small rust hole.
