Does anyone have an intermittent miss in the number 2 and 3 cylinders? It will hardly idle unless I crank the Idle way high, yet it runs excellent at high RPM's. Anything will help.

sounds like a fuel-air mixture problem, but I'm no expert, I'm used to dealing with dual rochesters

it may be a mixture problem. ALso something to do is to pull the plugs out, if its been dumpign alot of fuel in those two holes you may have fouled plugs.

sounds like points to me, if the gap is not right it will cause it to miss real bad. most of the time its when the gap is too little. check the gap and reset them. when i've seen this happen, the engine misses on 2 cylinders.

It could be either a spark problem or a fuel problem I think. Points are the most likely spark problem, though bad plug wires could do it as well. On the fuel side, it would most likely be idle mixture. A really bad vacuum leak could cause the sort of problems you are seeing, but I think it would be more of an overall problem rather than just a couple of cylinders. 2 and 3 are the shortest runs on the intake manifold though, so it seems like some problems show up there before anywhere else.

On the doomsday scenarios, between 2 and 3 is not an uncommon spot for head gasket problems. A little leak between cylinders could be going on. A compression check would eliminate that as a possible though. If you are losing coolant someplace, that would not be a good sign.

I replaced the points, condensor, cap, rotor, wires and plugs. It is still there. The only thing is that it is coming from the distributor.

How did you determine the miss was both 2 and 3 cylinders? If it is definitely both then a compression check is in order.
