well it would fit in a luv. Im not shure if the latter trooper motor mounts are similar to luv motor mounts, so youll brobly have to make those. The other thing is youll have to track down a tranny. That may or may not be hard depending on your area. Whith that you could get a 4speed auto or a 5speed manual isuzu to bolt up to it. Youll have to find a tranny that was bolted up to an ISUZU 3.2 v-6. I know the 2.8L has diferent bolt pattern and the 3.4L might as well. Good luck.

i would say go for it. I know the early trooper motor mounts are the same as a luvs but im not shure about the latter troopers. The 3.2L will be a good engine for the luv, probly have as much get up as most stock older 350s

is there any motor besides a 1.8 isuzu that will bolt onto a luv tranny without needing to fab new motormounts?

a 1.9 out of a isuzu pup, everything is the same and will interchange on the 1.8 the only difference is the 1.9 is bored out bigger.

no i don't think any of the luvs had a 1.9. you would probably have to step up to like a 1984 pup.

Mopar: I have a theory that the Isuzu 2.3L or 2.6L will bolt in, but I've never had a chance to test that theory. The block is different in design, but the basic layout and proportions look the same.

I think a 1.9L would be a series 13 motor (a 1983 in other words) the 1982 series 12 models still had a 1.8L. The other thing that should be a bolt on swap besides the 1.9L is the multiport fuel injected 2.0L turbo motor from an Isuzu Impulse. Like the 1.9L, its the same basic block as the 1.8L luv just punched out a little more. Good luck finding a Turbo Impulse though, especially one for sale. Almost twice the horsepower of a stock luv 1.8L though, and its only about 10% larger displacement.

The price that 3.2 is going for is a steal even if there is a hole in the side of the block. I don't know if I'd want to put one in a LUV though, as there would be a lot of plumbing and electrical to get it going. The electronics would be a nightmare without a complete donor vehicle to take everything from. You got more sensors to make work than Scotty did on the USS Enterprise.

I am sure that some bubble gum and a plasma welder could make it work tho.

Next time I am out in the yard I will look to see if there are some impulses and take a peek. Thanks for the info.

hey i have a 87 isuzu pup with a 1.9l and 91 isuzu amigo 2.6l and i do not think it will bolt up.

The 1.9 might, but the other is iffy.

basically, there's a ton of different trannies that you can bolt up to this. most notably, the toyota R151F, which can be fitted with dual transfer cases. check out that thread, there's some really good info in there

The Isuzu AR-5 has been renamed the "MA5" for use in 2004 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Bellhousing connects R series, NV3550 and AX15 to the Vortec 2800 L4 and the 3500 L5. (May also work with the GM 4.2)

Aftermarket: Northwest Off Road Specialties has a bellhousing that will mate the Toyota "W" series, "G" series and Jeep AX5 to a Ford 5.0.

Aftermarket: Suzuki Only Supply sells an adapter plate to mate either the Toyota R series, NV3550, AX15, AR-5 or MA5 to a Suzuki 1.3L or 1.6L in the Geo Tracker, Samurai or Sidekick. They make another plate to mate the W series, G series and AX5 to the same engines.

Note: The 96-99 Dakota 2.5L and Jeep 2.5L bellhousings will also bolt up to the Isuzu 3.2/3.5 V6.

The Jeep/Dodge AX15 5-speed, the Jeep NV3550 5-speed, the Toyota R150F & R151F, the 87-92 Toyota Supra Turbo R154 and the Isuzu AR5 5-speed all share the same case to bellhousing bolt pattern. As such there are a number of possibilities that can be had when a 5-speed is desired:

94-95 Dakota 2.5L bellhousing: Connects all to any K car based 2.2L-2.5L OHC L4 in a RWD application.

94-99 Dakota 3.9L V6 Bellhousing: Connects all to any 3.9L V6 and any 273/318/340/360 V8.

96-99 Dakota 2.5L bellhousing: Connects all to any Jeep 2.5L L4. Because of it's GM inherited bolt pattern, also works with any Buick FWD V6 and supercharged V6, any Chevrolet 2.8/3.1/3.4 V6, any Cadillac 4.1/4.5/4.9 V8 and with a minor modification, any Olds Aurora DOHC V8 and Cadillac DOHC Northstar V8.

88-99 Jeep 4.0L L6 bellhousing: Connects all to any AMC 290/304/343/360/390/401 V8 and any 72 and later 232 L6 and 258 L6.

01-03 Jeep Liberty 3.7L V6 bellhousing: Connects all to any 3.7L V6, 4.7L V8 and 5.7L Hemi V8.

Isuzu Trooper 3.5 V6 AR5 bellhousing: Connects all to any Isuzu 3.2\3.5 V6

Aftermarket:

Advance Adapters: Bellhousing for AX15 to Chevrolet-Buick-Olds-Pontiac V8 and Buick V6. Connects all to same.

Advance Adapters: Adapter plate for AX15 to Ford bellhousing. Connects all to same. Also they have a plate for the NV3550 to do the same.

Novak Enterprises: Adapter plate for AX15 to GM 4-speed bellhousing. Connects all to same.

Further info: Jeep AX5, Toyota G52, W55, W56, W57 and W58 5-speeds all share a common face pattern on the case. As such, any 88-99 Jeep 2.5L bellhousing (NOT Dakota) will bolt a Toyota W series transmission to a 60 degree GM bolt pattern.

Aftermarket: Advance Adapters makes a bellhousing to bolt a W series Toyota trans to a Chevy-Buick-Olds-Pontiac block.

NOTE: Input shafts lengths vary.

Pre 1995 R150\R151 = 6.5"
1995 up Toyota R series = 7.5"
AX15 = 7.5"
87-92 Turbo Supra R154 = 7.25"
AR5 = ?
NV3550 = 7.5"
AX5 = 7.5"
Toyota W series = 6.5"

Advance Adapters makes an extra long pilot bearing if using a shorter input shaft tranny with a bellhousing that had a longer one. Obviously you can't put the longer input trans into a bell that had a shorter one.

Front bearing covers are interchangeable between the R series, AX15 and AR5. NV3550, AX5 and W series are not interchangeable.
