can someone tell me what a ground cam is? does anyone know if a new cam shaft is included in a rebuild kit?thanx

A ground cam is a customized camshaft you have made up to the specs you choose.

Or a cam that started as a larger cam, and has been ground into the next smaller size. It is a way to get a "new" cam for used prices. I have run many re-grinds and have had great luck.

when you have a cam custom ground, it means you have the lobes on the cam set up to the specs you want on the exaust and the intake valves. it controls how long your valve is open, and how much it opens, this is called duration and lift. adjusting these by having a cam ground will help you tune you power to what you need it for. if you need low end torque, you get a small cam, and a small carb, if you want good high end power, a bigger cam and carbwill do this for you, it just takes away from your bottom end power and torque. cams do not usaully come with rebuild kits, but you can have cam custom ground to fit your needs. contact someone wh deos high performance engines, because usually they know people who grind cams.
