Yes, they will work on the 4x4's. Not sure if they were an official option, but I thought you could get them new in Florida with stepsides. I think they started in 76. I am not positive of any of this except they will fit any 72-80 truck. Do you have one available?? They are a rare find nowdays.

If you live near Cedar City, Utah, I know where one is sitting in a yard with the weeds growing all over it. I stopped by about two months ago and it seems to be in pretty good shape. The fenders are fiberglass and need just a bit of glassing to repair them. The bed itself could use some sandblasting to clean up some rust, but didn't see anything that couldn't be cleaned up rather quickly.

I talked to the guy on Ebay who is selling his LUV with a stepside (The guy with the yellow one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 1865783838 ) and he said that his neighbor bought the truck new from a dealer with the "California Conversion Stepside." He says he has an extra stepside and he knows where an entire truck is also. If anyone wants the entire email, messenge me and I'll forward it to you.
