So heres the situation- Ive got one luv with no title(unsure of year but its definitely 76-80 range) and i want to put the motor in my 75 luv which has a title but no motor. The newer truck has a the newer motor, so im unsure of if i can replace the one in the 75 luv with it. I have both transmissions from both trucks, but the trans in the 75 is hydrualic clutch and the trans in the 76-80 luv is cable clutch. Will the newer motor match up to the older hydraulic trans? What can i do to get that engine in the 75without major work?

Oh I was asking because I was willing to sell the engine out my 74. It would work on your 75. But your way across the country.

I believe the motor mounts on the frame are the same, but in a different location for each engine. So some cutting and welding would be required. And maybe cable/hydraulic clutch, and starter location might be small problems to overcome.

Ohhh i see. Havent checked this thread in a while. Ive decided im just gonna use the whole swap from the 79, trans and all, and swap out the pedals so i can use the cable clutch instead of hydraulic. Only differences ive noticed from new to old is the throttle cable is longer in newer trucks, the cable for the clutch, and it looks like everything else should line up as far as mounts go. So basically swap out pedal boxes and cables and drill a hole in the firewall for the clutch cable and i think ill be set. Ill keep ya updated as i make more progress. As of right now ive swapped out the pedal boxes, but no cable or firewall drilling yet lol
