I have an ‘82 2.2L diesel LUV. Have been looking for a replacement glow plug control module. There are 9 pins that 3 different wiring harnesses plug into. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think sqdeb@yahoo.com should have this (salvaged).

But before you spend the money for it, wanna do some troubleshooting? These are generally pretty reliable, and quite often they're incorrectly blamed for glow issues.

What's going on with yours?

Jack

Thanks for the reply Jack!
A quick backstory summary;
Truck belongs to my dad, he’s in South Dakota. I am in Kansas. He was told by his mechanic (pretty reputable guy in a small town) that the Controller was blame for his starting issue. THE STARTING ISSUE, as explained to me by my dad; He has to cycle the key on and off 4 to 5 times (letting the glow cycle run) in order for the engine to fire and start up. I was thinking it could be one or both glow relays or possibly bad glow plugs.
I didn’t ask my dad if these items were checked, assuming they were by the mechanic. Any wisdom you have to share would be greatly appreciated!

The controller is actually the very last thing I'd replace, after eliminating every other possibility. Whether his mechanic has eliminated the other more likely possibilities, we don't know. There are definitely quite a few good, reputable mechanics whose expertise doesn't include 30+ year old diesels.

I think the top two possibilities are:
Bad wiring connections
One or more bad glow plugs (one bad one will cause the whole system to perform poorly).

I told my dad the same thing about experience with the age and this particular engine. He did tell me he replaced all the glow plugs 1.5-2 years ago. He is going to tell him about your other suggestions about troubleshooting other possible causes like wiring issues/connections and the 2 relays. I will post what he finds out and if he finds a solution. Thanks for your time and suggestions! Fingers crossed... the old man LUV’s that little truck 8)
