The cable broke on the hood latch. Does anyone have a really good picture of the latch mechanism. The aftermarket hood wont flex enough for me to get to it I have some pics but they're not detailed enough to get a good look. That V-8 makes it impossible to reach it from below. If anyone has gone thru this, I would surely like to hear about it.

The cable end broke at the latch. I'm thinking the mechanism moves clockwise when looking straight at it. I think my only option is to drill a hole in the pass side fender well close to the firewall and using a rod to pop the hood. The battery is dead and the fuel in the tank is really old. I.ve been away from the truck for too long and I want to have fun with it again. This latch crap has me stopped dead in my tracks.

Not sure if this helps, but I posted mine a long time ago for someone else.

WOW!.. That's a clean photo. I'm assuming that I can hook to the lower cable end and pull on it to pop the hood.

It took some time and patience but I got the hood open finally! Small diameter round bar with a 90 degree bend and a borescope. It's got me thinking about making a secondary latch system using the lower cable point. Thanks for the help guys. That problem is now over with.
