(Bush Wrote).(There is an air screw underneith the carburater. Pull the carb off and turn it upside down. I think about 4 screws hold the base on the carb and they all look the same except one has a hole all the way through it. If that gets put back in wrong it can make the truck not run correctly.)

Does anyone know about this screw and which spot its suppose to be in on the carb bottom. Thanks

Hey shane can you explaine to me how your truck was acting before you fixed the carb. B/c i am having carb problems. When i drive the luv i have to pump the gas furiously just to keep it running. I was just thinking that it might be the solution.
Thanks Derrik

Sounds a lot like a vacuum leak to me. I had a bad mixture control valve on my 86 trooper 2.3L (a luv 1.8L descendant) and it was leaking a lot of air right into the intake under the carb. Before I capped it, I could only adjust the idle to about 1800RPM and no lower it would die. Once I capped the 3/8" tube coming out of the intake it would idle at 500 without dying if I wanted it to. Basically, that bad mixture valve (white mystery canister next to the carb) was acting like a 3/8" hole in the intake.

My 79 LUV has a hole in the same spot on the intake, so check those hoses, tubes, and mysterious emissions do-dads for leaks.

Well I never fixed the carb., this is what happened to me after I bought the truck about 1yr ago, I had it running good changed all the normal basic stuff like spark plugs and all that good stuff. after I tried to get it smogged it ran for a little while then it would not idle and now I am where I am stuck with it not wanting to idle, if you have read all my other posts and what I have changed, thus far no luck, so I am getting a weber carb. I have went through all of the vaccum lines so I know, (but not for sure) that it is not the vaccum lines.

I went thru 3 Shitachis on my 80 4X4. I finally got disgusted enough to buy a Weber this past summer plus a Mallory Unilite distributor and I'm happy as hell now. The last Shitachi had an internal hairline crack somewhere inside and was dumping a rich mixture into the intake manifold turning the tail pipe black inside with carbon. My Weber came with a warning that it wasn't street legal in California.
