well i would call about it. When you get the carb it should come whith a color code tag. That should tell you if its legal, also try asking a smog referee, in my experience when i have asked them about motor mods they have been vary cool and helpfull. Good luck!

Well I already got a weber 32/36 dgev carb. from ebay it is just the carb no goodies like the adapter or the air cleaner. its in my other post (had her running and idling good). I guess it came from a bmw 2002. What if I just cut the stock air cleaner to fit this one would that make a difference.

I think the more stock it looks and feels the better chances of passing - the eye candy thing they like to chastize more.

I have a 80 luv in califonria, and want to know if the weber car bolts on to the stock intake manifold, or if you need an adpater, or different manifold all together? 8)

Yes you will need an adapter, the weber isn't a direct bolt on. You might try a local import shop, or online haven't seen too many on ebay.

I know a few online places carry them that also carry the weber carbs and the conversion kits for the VW's.

Are the weber carbs electronic?

carbs.net is a good place to look

you can get a weber with an electronic, manual or water choke. they also have a bolt on throttle body fuel injection system coming out pretty soon, i'm getting interested in that as it has a totally programmable ecu
