Hello everyone. I've recently bought my second LUV but for some odd reason I can't for my life find a place to get the key copied. It's an '81 and only came with a single key which works for the ignition and doors. I've gone to Walmart and Lowe's and both places tell me that they do not have anything to use to copy it. I asked the guy at Lowe's to check for an Isuzu match as well but he said there was still nothing. Does anyone have any idea of how to get a copy made or where to go? It appears as if there are no blanks that are compatible with this key for some reason.

I don't know about the 81s, but the first gen LUVs worked with a Toyota blank. You might need to go to an independent old-school locksmith.

I had one made with an old Mitsubishi blank for my '83 P'up. But I think a screwdriver would work just as well, at least for the ignition.

looks like 2ng gen uses a different blank then a first gen. Several of us have blanks for first gen. If it helps the the GM part number is 94228571

LOL I was just going to say if you find blanks, we can cut them at Ace. I am going to take my keys to work tomorrow see if we have compatible blanks, we have 2 different computer key matchers. Neither of my Luvs have ran in 10+ years so I haven't ever thought about it.
