If anybody got some pictures it would be even better.

One more silly question.Does the engine need to run for the blower to work?

That's definitely true of what we call the "2nd generation" trucks. They have to be charging for the relay to close. I suspect yours should be the same.

Hope that is that.Tomorrow i will fill the radiator coolant and start the engine to try it.
About the resistor i saw some pics here of one with 3 pins and a cable.
Mine has 2 pins and the blue cable.Does that blue cable goes to the blower?
The switch from the controller has a single blue cable also.Where does that goes?

Well I'm glad someone is seeing & getting use of my pictures  ... Actually didn't think you could pull pictures from this site but i guess you can.
download/file.php?id=7777&mode=view... know how to test these ?

I personally would hold off on the coolant till you know its working right.
The blue wire on the resistor plugs into the motor and next to the plug is black one it plugs into another black one in the wire loom right there under the ash tray

You say yours has 2 terminals ? What year is yours and doe it have ? .... The 3 units i seen (75,77, 80 all non AC) all had 3 terminals
I'm pulling mine back out heater not warm and engine getting warmer in 15 mile drive ...so swapping back to the one i pulled out just w/o all that debris on it & thinking i'll try the resistor from my 80 as the heater works in it.

My luv is a 1980 greek import single headlight with the g161z motor and front drums. :(
Your photos were the reason i got my heater core out after i saw the dirt in yours. Also it was a good time to clean/repair it.
I will post a pic of my resistor tomorrow.
Does your switch have a single blue wire?Do you remeber where it goes?
Does your blower work with the engine not running?

1st picture shows why so much mud is on the heater core, it was a rescue truck. I pull everything but the core when i got this one going & the heater core ran cool when for the 9yrs driving so no problem picked up a core not too long ago so it was time to check it all out
other 2 pics are 1980 & 77 resistors..i don't see a difference in em...the blue wire was plugged into the blower next to a black one below ash tray (i see 2 black wires there long n short short is plugged into the lever controls long black wire plugs into the blower as well male / female plugs all match up
I'm pretty sure the blower fan worked low/med/high w/ engine off

I pulled it all out again today as the truck was getting hot figured i swap back to the dirty core (Yes cleaned up) as it wasn't getting hot.
& i pulled the 80 resistor to check out in my 77 see if that helps...put it all back in & while filling it with water it died ... SMH :esurprised its got gas n spark put it all away for fresh eyes 2morrow

Back with updates. Finally there is a brown wire under the ash tray that powers the blue wire int he switch and from there you control the blower.
The blower works with the engine off.
My controller has 2 speeeds and maybe thats why my resistor is with 2 terminals.
So that problem is solved :)
Next thing is the gauges,i ve noticed 2 terminals in the back(check the photo). But there is only one wire that plugs in the one behind the fuel gauge and i think that is for the temperature. :? Anybody knows what is the other for?
The brake light on the dash what is it for?Is it for the e-brake?Is there a switch somewhere?I remeber mine working but now is dead.(checked the bulb and it is ok)

So your blower is always working at low speed? 8O Can t understand why the designed it that way.
The blue wire on mine is also on the air.
At the back of the dash i got 2 wires that don t plug anywhere as at the back of the glove box there is a 4 cable conector on the air.
Maybe someone with the newer gauges can help me.

The low speed blower always on is a safety deal for carbon monoxide build up, IIRC. The brake light should be illuminated by a pressure switch on the brake system. Either a combination valve, where all the lines branch off, or on the master cylinder, usually. (I don't have stock brakes on either LUV, so I can't chase it down for you any better than that.) It is an indicator of low brake pressure. Not all connections will be made on the harness, as not all trucks had the same options...

On all of my LUV trucks(76-80) the brake light is an e-brake indicator.

Take a peek under there.... The switch is in line w/ the handle you pull & release, its very simple set up.

about them 2 terminals on yours .... I haven't looked behind my 80 Luv gauges yet its still all together.

but pop that unit open and look inside it, sure will have some clue to inform you
