Hi guys, Has anyone changed out all their front suspension steering (tie rods etc.) yourself? I mean take it all apart and reassemble your LUV without help from an alignment shop. I know one would have to professionally align the front end but all the other parts......anyone ever do it? How hard was it? I'm thinking my LUV is ready for new suspension parts and I just had my GMC S-15 done (along with the brakes and wheel bearings) and it cost me $1,100 bucks. I'm glad to have it done but I can't spend a similar amount on the LUV. Looking to do it myself. Thanks for your help.....Don

I have the same question - I just got my 72, I have little experience but looking at my front suspension all the bushings are shot and it's caked in grime from sitting for a couple years.
checking out the shop manual and thinking I'd like to replace the upper and lower ball joints. Any other parts that I'd be good to replace?

It isn't any trouble to do a rebuild of the front suspension...

Get a couple of big hammers and a pickle fork and go to town. There a few tricks you will learn along the way but its more hard work than anything. Youtube is your friend. As far as alignment I generally do mine with a string and a tape measure but a alignment shop is not that expensive.
