Took tank out to radiator shop since it had been setting years, to make sure there was no trash. Ran it 50 miles, changed in line fuel filter for total of three.
Mounted new pump on cross member of frame. Same setup I used on my last 79 4x4. No problem on that truck for 130K miles

Now it runs great for a few weeks. When I stop, it won't crank. Pump sounds like it's Sucking air, not fuel. Really loud. Parts place gave me 2 more under warranty. Same problem. Any suggestions? Rebuilt original carb. No help. I've got a Weber carb. Trying to get the fuel pump cured before I stick the z Weber on. Open to suggestions .

Check the line between the tank and pymp. Probably rusted through

What happened to me was the fuel pickup line got clogged after i got my tank cleansed. Check the pickup line for clogs.

Finally found the original type that mounted to a big c clip. PSI is much more than the generic one I tried. Hopefully clean line and the correct pump will do it. If I can get a good forceful flow to the Weber requlator, crossing my fingers.

Thanks guy. I'll let you know.
