New to this forum so don't know if this has been discussed: I have a 4x4 '81 LUV Mikado, stock except T-bar lifted on 30x9.5/15's. Most of the front end moving parts - rubber bushings and joints like cv axles and tie rod ends - look worn and probably should be replaced before getting her on the road again. Found tie rods and bushings on rockauto, but having a hard time finding the IFS cv axles anywhere. Anyone know if the axles from an 80's s10 or P'up will swap over and what years? How about longer axles and swing arms for a higher lift? Or should I just do a straight axle swap and forget IFS? Also, are their any mods I absolutely SHOULD do, such as power steering or EFI instead of the stock carb? Haven't driven it on the road much yet, so I don't really know how she rides right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The P'up of the same year is exactly the same truck, aside from trim. I think front end parts stayed the same through '83. There's not much on an S10 that will swap over.

I'm having trouble finding CV axles, too, for a '79. The right outer CV joint needs a new bearing-thingy (pics below). I'd appreciate any ideas on how to get one!

As for mods, ShLUVain, i replaced my stock hitachi carb with a Weber 32/36. It was pretty easy and works great! A little more power and way simpler... got to cut out all the smog crap. Just as long as you don't have emissions laws...

Good luck on the front cv joints. I've had 6 different companies send axles listed as compatible. None were.

I've been searching for over a year. I wish I had better news.

I have a contact who was an Isuzu mechanic for years. He still has access to Isuzu parts--often parts that the dealers wouldn't keep in stock. I'll check with him. Gene, is yours an '81 as well?

My friend is a former Isuzu guy. If the part for the '79 is the same as the one for the '81, he may be able to get it.

I'll gladly pay that when mine wear completely out.
