1978 Chevy Luv, 5 speed

I have two Chevy Luv books and still can't figure it out. Researched trying to get a photo and nill. Can someone help me in clarifying these wire connections for me. I attached photos. The first one is the alternator wires. There is the two wire plug then I have two black wires, one thin and one thicker. Do both go to a ground screw to the rear of the alternator?

The next question is about two wires that end up at the battery area, have been joined and extended by thick red wire. These wires come off the same harness that has the plugs for the front light. Is this the fusible link? I have the red battery + wire that goes to the starter and then the smaller wire that comes from the ignition.

First question is large wire should go on the exciter light on the alternator and the small one is a ground. 2nd one is looks like the fusible link has been eliminated.
