Hello guys I need some advice. About two weeks ago I was driving home from work and all of the sudden my truck dies. I didn't hear anything break, no wired smell so I thought it was going to be the fuel pump but yesterday I took the fuel off the carb and I have plenty of fuel been pumped so that leaves out the pump. About a month ago I went with electric ignition. It drove fine and felt better too.

I would really appreciate any advice on what to check next. Thank you guys.

An engine needs 3 things to run. Fuel, compression, and ignition. Pull a spark plug wire and stick a screwdriver in it and hold it about 1/4 from the engine block and have a friend spin the motor. Be sure to not touch anything with your bare hand. If you get a spark on the wire, next step is to check the plugs to make sure they're clean. If that checks out, do a compression check.

Mine used to do the same thing periodically, it was a blown fuse. Don't know what caused it & didn't do anything to fix it, it just stopped doing it as suddenly as it started.

Hey thanks guys. I didn't have time to check the spark today. I'll have some free time Friday or this weekend. I really hope it's nothing major.

I got the luv running again. I didn't have any spark so I check the electronic ignition and the cap was hitting the black wire till it finally shaved it all the way down. I just changed the wire out and put it back together and it fired right up. Thank you guys for the help.

So I have a major problem now with this truck. I must of hit the steel line that goes from the bottom of the oil filter to to side of the timing chain. Where can I find one it's the one with the banjo fittings.

Do you know what fuse it was? My truck won't start again. I did the 3 steps above already and all is good.

Weld it or try to find a hydraulic shop in your town, they might be able to make one.

I fixed that problem already. I got the line from the 73 the on here is parting out. I went to a hydraulic shop here by my work and they didn't even go down on that size yet alone in metric

If you've got spark, the problem is unlikely to be a fuse.

Are you sure you're getting fuel to the carb?

Yes I have plenty of gas going to it. Do u know the compression ratio it has to be?

I don't remember the specs on the 1.8. It should at least run if the psi is greater than 100.

Yes it wasn't reading anything on the gage. I might of lost compression. I checked the timing chain and it's not broken, what other way could I of lost compression?
