I have a 1979 Chevy luv Mikado. It stalls when I accelerate, if I pump the gas I can get lucky and it will keep going. It happens often but not all the time. I have replaced the alternator, fuel pump , fuel filter, new fuel lines, gas tank is clean, new spark plug wires. New carberator. New distributor cap, adjusted the points and timing. I am out of ideas, can it be a battery shortage? Sometimes when I'm real unlucky it won't start and I have to get a jump

Check the distributor cap. There's a little metal thing held in by a spring on the inside of the cap under where the coil wire plugs into it

You've replaced all those items after it started having problems?

Did you pull the vacuum line off the dist and plug it when you set the timing?

I am having similar problems.
idles fine, drives fine. full throttle though a bit of a problem.
feels like full power is cut, and car actually de-accelerates.

I bent the tab for the secondaries. and was able to activate it when car was idling.
Saw that fuel was coming out of venturies. Not sure if sufficient. Engine reved up.

So I am now thinking that the ignition system not strong enough.
