Im trying to locate a factory one but I know how hard its probably going to be. Im trying think of what I could do for one that would look nice. I was thinking of possibly doing a shaved gate but dont really want to do that to a stepside. Another idea I had was to find one from another truck and making it work.

step beds/ fenders pop up from time to time but someone letting go of just a gate is un-likly.
I got one few yrs back but no hinges as their different than the reg hinges..I can share some pics of my gate if you're thinking of starting from scratch....
that or maybe just sport a net / air gate style for the time being....G'Luck

I already have a frame built for it I just have to skin it. Trying to figure out what would look the best as far as the hinges and a way to hold the gate in place.

Back in the 80's on my 76 I put the hinges on the side of the tailgate and had it swing out. I used a slide bolt latch to hold it shut. I also flipped it around so it was flat sheetmetal top to bottom and the frame was inside the bed.

Mine has flat stock that extends out to the sides with the same flat stock turned and extending through slots with tractor clips . Very simple .
