Hello I wanted to share this with you guys. I have a build titled "Attempting to Refurbish Interior" on this website that I have been working on. I posted this exact topic on the isuzupup and ozgemini websites. I also placed this under a new thread, "Performance Distributors - Elec Dis. Awesome Work!!", on this website.

The project is a 1978 Chevy Luv that I have been putting back together. I have received some help from forum members here (luvtruck, isuzupup, ozgemini) and appreciate it. I began by refurbishing the interior than got into the engine. Rebuilt and balanced G200 block (.30 over), G180 head, Delta cam w/ dual valve springs and titanium retainers, side draft Lynx intake and carb -dellorto 45, mated to a 5 spd transmission.

Today I received this brand new complete electronic distributor with a built in coil plus some custom wires made by Performance Distributors located in Memphis Tennessee. This thing is beautiful!! I'll post pictures. I'll have the truck running with this distributor in a couple of weeks.

I talked to Steve from Performance Distributors about them building this and he came through. What a work of art this distributor. Note: I asked them to build it without a vacuum advance and re-curved it for me because of the intake /carburetor set up I am running.

I'll post some pictures up for you guys to see now and when finished, I'll post a video and more photos.

When asked about what length wires I needed by Steve - Performance Distributors, I gave him approximate lengths that I thought would work. Looking at the wires now and seeing how nice they are, being nicely numbered and all, I noticed I made a mistake. Of course, I'll used them but will probably have to use a black marker to hide the numbers on the wires marked 1 thru 4. What a shame because they did a real nice job with them. As you see them on the picture, the distributor is not in all the way and the wires are not in the right order. I was in a hurry to get to work and just wanted to see what they would look like on the engine.

M3638 Please tell how you liked the door belt wx strip pieces. I am excited to find these finally. Did they fit properly? I recently bought the window channel pieces from JC Whitney if you are interested. Those pieces fit really well and look just fine. I even posted about them for the archives with the JCW part numbers etc. I really want to get new ones because of our desert heat my present ones are shot. Awaiting your opinion.....Thanks Don

Hey Don, I stopped working on the truck for a bit to work on another project. I'm going to start finishing this one in a week or so. On the "door belt pieces", the ones I bought, I have the driver side installed but not the passenger side yet. The one I installed fit nicely, I really like the product. I'm sure the other will fit just fine.

I am looking for the window channel pieces, I'll look for your post.

Thank you.

Vic

This has nothing to do with the build but just noticed and wanted to straighten this out.

I just noticed that below my site or site name, it says " luvtruck.com guru", why? Is it something that just pops up? I didn't put that on there. I'm no guru, far from it. If it's something that pops up for everyone when they sign on, ok. However, if it's not, moderator/s please delete that. I would appreciate it. Thank you

Vic

Finally turned it on. Not tuned yet with open header. This awesome looking distributor made things easy for me and seems to be working very well. It's a one wire hook up. Next to the connector for the 12v on this distributor is a connection for a tachometer. It takes the guess work out. Pretty nice.
