You can pull the coil wire and use the starter to prime it too if you don't have the tool.
When I crank my 61 Mercedes up after it sits for a few months I can tell when the oil primes because it has an oil pressure gauge and the cranking slows down a lot when the pressure comes up. It takes a long time to start because it doesn't run much. You can use your starter too but don't crank for more than 45 sec. The battery terminals get hot and the starter can burn out.
