So I have a 79 Chevy luv. 1.8 mikado with 32/36 weber. I took it to cedarville, CA and when I was coming back it started to stall. It got worst As time went on. I had junk mechanics install the carb and adjust the valves. Anyways now it stalls, backfires pops and a loud whine at higher rpms intermittently. Any ideas?

They adjusted the rockers you mean? The stalling and popping could be it taking in air from the mounting plate for the carb. Did they use a gasket anywhere in there? Not sure what the whine could be. I'd probably start looking at vacuum lines... Such as the vacuum advance

Sounds like having a look at the timing chain and tensioner might be a worth while move.
