Be very carful. Pay attention to the details when disassembling it. These are very hard carbs to rebuild. Take pictures of the rods and what hole they are in.

I started to take it apart then I wasn't sure if its even the stock carb. It doesnt have a round glass eye on the float. its a glass window. the float does say 340 on it. The gaskets look the same but I think i'm going to change the filter and fuel pump before I attempt the carb rebuild. i was intimidated by the number of little pieces in the kit. Thank you for the reply.

I rebuilt the stock carb, wasn't all that difficult but time consuming.would be easier to buy a weber, and gain a bit of power too

I had mine rebuilt for 100 bucks. Came with free carb tuning for the following year.

...which meant I went back to him every time I did something to the truck during the initial 'figuring-out' and 'upgrading shit' phases of buying an old vehicle.

The price was well worth that particular perk. Mostly, it helped me rule out "Do I have it tuned right?" while troubleshooting other problems I hadn't solved yet.

Fuel overflowing means: #1-- float level incorrect, needle valve sticking, missing.
#2-- fuel pump wrong pressure, spec is 3-4 lbs.
