In the information section, there is a master parts list, labeled "Chevy 1972-82 LUV Series 1-12 Master Parts List"
http://www.luvtruck.com/Information.htm

It is an illustrated parts catalog, and is a great resource for this type of question. It breaks down every component from every LUV offered, year-by-year.

In Section 2, page 2-42 to 2-44, under "REAR COMBINATION LAMP", it says the following trucks shared configurations:

Series 1
Series 2-3
Series 4-10
Series 11-12

I can't remember if a 74 is a series 3 or 4, but I think you've got the vertical taillights, not the under-tailgate type, putting you in the '74-'79 camp.

*Edit* I am incorrect. 74 is under the tailgate

Pretty sure the 72 was the round lights, 73 and 74 were mounted under the bed and 75 and up were on the side of the beds. Series 1 is a 72, series 2 was a 73 and series 3 was a 74.

So the only other year that would fit on a 74 is the 73? These two years have the lights on the bottom right?

That article is incorrect as far as the lights go.

I wish I would have kept my 74 bed on my 74. I like the bigger tailgate on the 72-74 beds better but finding the bumpers for those years is damn near impossible.

I didn't know the tailgate was bigger. Mine doesn't have the bumpers I don't even know how they look like.

If you look at the 75 and up LUVs the tail lights are on the side of the tailgate. On the 72-74 trucks the tailgate is wider and takes up the room where the later model lights are. The 72 tailgate is the same size as the 73-74 but has indentations on the lower corners where reflectors are. If you do a search on LUVTRKR (not sure of the spelling) is truck and trailer have the 72 only tailgate. You can see the 72 lights too.

EDIT: found a link.

See below for the 72 setup.

I have a set of 73/74 lenses that were on the bed I cut up last year.

There are reproduction Tail light on Ebay for the 73/74 and the 74/80 Luvs (Not the really early round ones)
Not sure of the quality of them, some of the other forum members may have more experience with them :D
