This truck will only idle. When you try to give it gas it just dies. I have tried to pour gas in the carb while opening the the butterfly's on carb, RPM will not come up just dies. I have been through the carb. New kit. I am thinking it has something to do with the ignition. Does any one have a flow chart to check the ignition? Or any info that might help get this running? This is a 1981 with 1.8 manual trans.

Check for spark. Connect up a timing light to the center coil wire and with it flashing give it some throttle and see if spark quits. If so, disconnect the vacuum advance hose and plug it, if this corrects it replace/repair a broken wire inside the distributor.

If you have a charging issue or a voltage regulator issue your Fuel pump will not run except when cranking.
I think that may give you the results you are dealing with.
