I couldn't find this info anywhere with even aid from the "almost-all-knowing" Google. So I thought I might throw this question out to you wonderful LUV owners (past and present): Is there supposed to be a bearing for the steering column and the end of the housing (tube) under the hood? It looks like mine had one once and would like to put one there if it ever had one. I need it so when I modify the shaft (under the hood only) to connect to the Volvo steering rack I have, the shaft will stay true when I turn the wheels. I am trying my best not to modify poor Jimmy anymore than I have to. (Front Clip has been chopped on two different occasions for radiator mounting purposes. )

BTW: 1980 LUV 2WD; had manual transmission from factory
