So i searched up and down for a vacuum leak on my 1980 stock 4x4 Chevy Luv and couldn't find one anywhere. I'm starting to think that my carb is about to bite the dust. I took it off today and planned on having it checked out to see what a rebuild would cost me. That being said, I'm thinking about just going with a Weber carb, everybody on here has only good things to say and they sound a lot more reliable. So here's my question, there are two different versions of the 32/36 Weber carb kits on Ebay. Does anybody know which one is easier to install/requires less modifications? I'd prefer to save $60 and go with Option 1, however, if the Redline kit essentially bolts right up with minimal mod's, I'm more then happy to spend the extra money. I put the links of both carb kits below.

Option 1:

Option 2: Redline

Follow up question, which i will do some more browsing to try and find the answer, but do you need to remove all the smog/emissions stuff to upgrade the carb?

Thanks,
Kansas

I put the Redline on mine and it is still the best upgrade I have ever done to the Luv. It's a highly recommended upgrade to any Luv. I believe the Redline is tuned for the Luv (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I removed the smog stuff as our state doesn't have emissions testing.

Thanks Jeff. I ended up buying a rebuild kit for my Hitachi, gonna see how that works out for me. Seems like I'm probably wasting $50 and should have went ahead and bought the redline weber anyways. I guess I'll know by Tuesday.

Rebuilt my Hitachi and that Luv is running better then it has since I bought it. Did a donut in the dirt parking lot in front of all my friends and sped off down the street like a 16 y/o jackass... It felt good. Knock on wood that it keeps running like this. Next step: remove emissions and post photo of sexy rustoleum paint job over horrible body work.
